Matt offered to take us on a tour of the Starbucks headquarters and we took him up on it. It turned out to be an all day adventure with many stops on the way. ![]() Here we are, all lined up in our usual spot in front of the Issaquah Starbucks ![]() Hien checks out the two way radios with Bobby's son Christopher ![]() Here is a good photo of Hien ![]() ...and one of Mark ![]() Don and his guest prepare to get ready while Christopher practices driving. ![]() What is keeping the Fu kids so entertained? It looks like a new toy! ![]() A custom integrated DVD system with widescreen monitors in the headrests. ![]() Once again we are on the way... ![]() We drew quite a bit of attention as we cruised down I-90 toward Seattle ![]() Across Mercer Island... ![]() ...and into Seattle ![]() We got off the freeway for a short drive south... ![]() ...Into the parking lot of the Starbucks headquarters building ![]() ![]() Once again, we are lined up in a nice row. Starbucks headquarters were damaged in the earthquake that happened the previous year. They are still in the process of rebuilding parts of the building ![]() After meeting up with new member Dae, we went around the corner to the parking garage. ![]() ![]() Up we go, round and round and round and round. It seemed like we'd never get there ![]() Finally, at the top. ![]() As usual, we took great care go line up the cars carefully. This was to be a great photo opportunity ![]() There we are on top of the garage with the Seattle skyline in the background. ![]() There were lots of good angles to shoot. Everyone was madly clicking away with their cameras ![]() Mark, being more daring than the rest of us, climbed up on the wall for a new angle. Be careful Mark, we are about 8 floors up. (Actually, there was another level to the garage under him, but it was still about 12 or fifteen feet) ![]() I follow Mark up on the wall and takes this shot, but I feel much more comfortable clinging to the pole rather than just balancing. ![]() Mark has a photo on his Car Domain Page of me taking this picture. I look rather silly, but the shot turned out good. Because we were parked somewhat off center of the yellow line and arrows on the pavement, I had to do some photo editing to get everything to line up like I wanted. ![]() Here are the Seattle 7s in front of our cars. This is definitely one of my favorite car photos. ![]() We moved the cars around and arranged them in a chevron shape. There was lots more clicking as everyone scrambled to take more pictures.
![]() We move the cars yet again in search of even more angles. ![]() Here's Bobby and his son Christopher as we move the cars still one more time. ![]() This time aligned along another wall. Are you beginning to think that we like looking at our cars? ![]() More angles of the same parking job. ![]() Let's open the hoods. That will look good. ![]() It also created this great angle. ![]() On the way down, Matt was prompted to point out the corporate speed limit, which is strictly enforced! ![]() If you don't think so, ask the guy monitoring the cameras! ![]() We moved down a few floors, and parked again. This time closer to the staff entrance. ![]() Don discovers one of the original logos and offers to protect everyone's eyes, or at least that is what he tells us. He does seem to be enjoying himself! ![]() We take a break inside one of the employee break rooms. It looks like many company break rooms, but has a few "extra features" things that you don't see in most. ![]() A full sized espresso machine, the same kind that they have in the stores. ![]() Matt also demonstrates a "top secret" coffee maker, which is still under development. We were sworn to secrecy under penalty of death. ![]() Matt gives gives lessons on making espresso. Dae gives a try and pressing the coffee just the right amount. ![]() I give it a try and actually make a pretty good tasting mocha. ![]() They even have special visitor mugs. ![]() After leaving the parking lot, we line up for another quick photo. ![]() We leave Starbucks and head north into downtown in search of lunch. ![]() We pull into the Sorrento hotel to have lunch at the famous Hunt Club. ![]() It is probably not ever day that the entire driveway is filled with BMW 7s. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here we are enjoying a great meal. ![]() There is Matt on the way to our next stop. ![]() This time we head north on I-5 out of Seattle. ![]() ...And head across Highway 520 toward Kirkland and Redmond. ![]() Here is the infamous 520 floating bridge. Yes, it really floats on top of the water. When it in windy the water splashes over the side and dumps on top of your car. It can be quite a surprise if you are not expecting it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We head north on I-405 under the beautiful sunshine. ![]() We decide to show up unexpectedly at Michaels house. He is glad to see us and decides to join us for a while. ![]() We go to, you guessed it, Starbucks! ![]() |
