We met up at our favorite Starbucks in Issaquah but only long enough to grab some hot java and maybe some krispy Kreme's. To our dissappointment it was a small turn-out but we knew many of our club members have families and other obligations. ![]() It was our first planned meet to leavenworth. Steve and Matt put a lot of work into planning the trip. Roads mapped out, restaurants checked out, and an itinerary down to the minute so the group can get in the most activities possible. ![]() We broke out the radios and decided to chuck the itinerary out the window and just have fun! Trish and Scott called and told us to start off without them. They would catch up. ![]() Then off into the mountains on I-90. We traveled East just past Cle Elum where we hopped off onto Hwy 970 heading North at Teanaway. This is where Destination Highway 55 begins. This section of road begins in the Yakima River valley. ![]() I-90 was uneventrul but beautiful none the less. ![]() We drove on Destination Highway 55 and side tracked onto a few Twisted Edges to experience those thriving curves and beautiful scenery! (A Destination Highway "DH" is rarely a major highway or often not even a secondary one ~ it is the destination. Twisted Edges "TE" are roads not worth "traveling to, to journey on" but are worth checking out if you happen to be in the neighborhood.) ![]() We stopped at a Chevron station when we hit Hwy 2. None of the cars needed gas but some of us needed to empty our own tanks. We sat at a nice picnic table when Dave pointed out the sign posted on the table. We were lucky we didn't get caught so we decided we better leave! (Lisa is not pictured because she was behind the camera) ![]() Some of the Fruit stands were as big as a 7/11 convenience store! ![]() We passed Smallwood's Harvest in Peshastin on that final leg to Leavenworth. It looked like a great place to check out, maybe next year. ![]() ![]() ![]() As we enter Leavenworth we are surprised to hear Trish on the 2 way radio. Scott and Trish took Hwy 2 and beat us there! ![]() As we enter Leavenworth you feel as if you are transported to a small town in the Bavarian Alps. ![]() We find a back street with ample parking. I just love all the tall green Evergreens in the middle of town! ![]() Now it was time to fill our bellies with some good food. Everyone was hungry. ![]() Tell me, how many of you turn around to take that last look before walking away? I know I do. ![]() The reputation of Gustovs made it back to Seattle and this is where we decided to try eating. Of course it was clear on the other side of town from where we parked. ![]() But on the way back to the cars it gave us an opportunity to do some shopping. Or in this case some goofing around? ![]() Hmmmmm somehow I don't think that is DOT or ANSI approved. ![]() L-R: Dave, Steve, Lisa, Doug, Roni, Jeremy, Matt, Trish and Scott. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
